The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a UK Government scheme designed to help homeowners in England and Wales afford the upfront costs of installing a heat pump. Heat pumps are highly efficient, renewable heating systems.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is open to homeowners and small business property owners in England and Wales.
*Biomass boilers may only be installed in properties located in rural areas with no mains gas connection.

Who can apply for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
To apply, you will need to:
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is open to homeowners, as well as owners of small business properties, in England and Wales only.
The new heating system must also be able to meet the full space heating and hot water requirements of your property and meet certain technical standards, such as minimum efficiency requirements.
The scheme started in April 2022, and is set to run until 2028, so now is the best time to enquire about upgrading your boiler.
How will the process work?
As an MCS approved installer, the team here at Renewable Heating Wales can fit the boiler upgrade that’s right for you. The MCS quality assurance scheme ensures that installers are competent, and the products they use meet the correct standards.
We can advise you on whether your chosen installation is eligible for a grant under the scheme.
You will approve the quote we provide, and this should include the grant from the Boiler Upgrade Scheme as a deduction from the total amount.
The voucher application will be led by us. We help you every step of the way.
